In a world where the state of the art can change in an eyeblink, those who seek to stay on
the leading edge must continually work to keep their knowledge up to date. My work, both
with both game-changing startups, and with visionary executives around the world, forces
me to boil down current trends to their essence, revealing core concepts and strategic
implications.
As a thought leader, I share my vision on the consumer data revolution at major
conferences including:
Fortune BrainstormTech (“Digital Exhibitionism: The Future of Relationships?”)
O'Reilly's Web 2.0 Expo (“Data – Your New Competitive Advantage”)
South by Southwest (SxSW08, The Science of Designing Interactions)
I am available to speak at select corporate events.
: conferences :
My goal is to challenge the minds of the audience. I focus on important, often hard
questions and use carefully chosen examples from my extensive network.
Conference organizers have found me to be an engaging and entertaining speaker. I tackle
the future of consumer data, forcing listeners to think differently about the role of
data in their organizations, and about the implications of the data they themselves
create.
My talks pinpoint opportunities that will arise from this new data bounty. I touch on
issues of data privacy, data ubiquity, data creation, and data persistence. My examples
draw on my own experiences as Chief Scientist at Amazon.com, as well as on my current
work with innovative firms around the world in a variety of corporate arenas, offering
the audience an emerging view of the marketplace impossible to get from more dated
sources.
I offer far-reaching vision of the future, beyond the latest book or buzz-word, and
outside the boundaries of the PowerPoint slide.
: corporate events :
Like my workshops, I tailor my
corporate speaking engagements to illuminate unique opportunities for each specific
audience. My work with startups and in academia gives me the ability to act as a bridge
between innovators and established firms in the rapidly changing landscape of e-business
and Web 2.0. I have spoken at companies including Goldman Sachs, Google, hp, IBM,
Priceline, and Volkswagen.
The venues for my corporate speaking engagements range from company-wide events,
where I might deliver an inspirational address to a cross-disciplinary audience from
across the company, to invited, private briefings for upper-level executives, where I
introduce new critical trends, and offer insights, fresh perspectives, and strategic
ideas.
In addition to speaking engagements, I regularly
teach courses at Stanford, UC Berkeley, and
at top schools in Europe and China.
